Basic Information

Monday through Thursday
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.


The day includes:
* Riding Lesson
* Grooming
* Basic Horse Care and Horsemanship
* Horse Science
* Crafts
* Games


Rates:
$25 per day



2009 Course Dates

The 2009 Summer Camp season will begin on June 22nd and end on August 27th


Additional Information

1. Ages five (5) years and up.
2. Registration limited to 12 children per day.
3. Children are expected to bring their own lunches.
4. Jeans, helmets, and boots with a heel are required. We provide helmets, but it is suggested that the rider have his/her own well-fitting helmet.
5. The Tykenbay Acres Horse Science and Lesson Course will cover the following:

* Handling and leading a horse
* The stabled horse
* Grooming
* Clipping and bathing the horse
* Feeding and watering
* Health, condition, and exercise of the horse
* Conformation
* Showing
* Showmanship
* Equitation and pleasure
* Care and cleaning of saddlery
* Tacking and untacking
* The saddle
* The bridle
* Bits and bitting
* Mounting and dismounting
* The basic riding position
* Gaits of the horse, etc
